Because the two of us here at the OnlySchoolers podcast tend to school outside the box, it shouldn’t come asurprise that we’ve dabbled in Christmas schooling along the way.
What is Christmas schooling?
It’s where you toss the regular school schedule out the window and circle your homeschool wagons around the topic of Christmas.
But before you cringe at all the extra work Christmas schooling might entail, remember….this is us…the OnlySchoolers. Christmas school doesn’t mean going crazy with a bazillion different high-prep activities. Christmas school can be really really simple.
Social Studies? Christmas customs all around the world.
Mathematics? Bake some Christmas cookies and double or halve the recipe.
Language Arts? Write some Christmas “Thank Yous” to the relatives.
Science? Study the Christmas and wintertime constellations.
Reading? A Christmas Carol, Polar Express, Grinch…so many great books.
Art? Christmas craft ideas abound at the craft store and Pinterest.
Music? Crank those Christmas carols and sing along.
Life Skills? Put those kids to work wrapping gifts for the relatives.
Remember, it’s your homeschool, so you do the holidays any which way you like them.
Just as a quick FYI, we have a podcast scheduled to drop tomorrow morning (12/15), but after that Gina and Christyn will be taking a holiday break from the podcast and the What If Wednesdays. So we will catch you next year!
All best,
